Men Fellowship
The
genesis of men’s fellowship derives from the expected and ascribed
roles of men should play in the work of God. Firstly, the Almighty God
created man and from him, woman. This implies that man should be close
to God. In fact, God created man in His own image and after His own
likeness (Gen. 1 vs. 27). Hence man should champion the ‘doings’ of the
work of God.
In
fact, the first chapter of Genesis clearly indicates that all things
are created for man and woman and for them to take dominion over (vs.
26). Given the vision of our Set-man Apostle Richard Ige as
directed by God , man should be set free from oppression, bondage
and principalities and darkness to prosper and be fruitful, thereby
increasing their potentials to serve God the more.
The
establishment of CLCI Men’s forum was in accordance with the calling of
notable men in the Holy Bible. When God saw that the wickedness of man
was great and that every imagining of the thoughts of his heart was only
evil continually, He called Noah (Gen. 6 Vs. 5-9) to serve as the seed
for a new man! Upon Noah and his family did God build a new generation.
The blessings on Noah thereafter show that, it is important and
rewarding to serve the Lord.
The
calling of man to serve God is also seen in the Action, promise and
blessings of God to Abraham (Abram) in Genesis 12 vs. 2-3), 13 (vs.
2-3), 15 (1-6); Moses-through the angel of the Lord… in a flame of fire
(Ex. 3vs. 2), Ex. 7 vs. 1; Aaron and Miriam (Numbers 12 vs. 2-8); Joshua
in the book of Joshua 1 vs. 1-9; Samuel in the book of I Sam. 3 vs.
2-14; Gideon (Judges 6 vs. 11-18) among others in the old testament of
the Holy Bible including the great Elijah in the book of Kings.
Similar
and equally powerful calls were made in the New Testament. Some of
these include the callings of the Disciples in Matthew, Mark and Luke.
In particular, Saul was called and converted to Paul the great Apostle.
Philip was called in Acts 8:26 and Cornelius in Chapter 10 of the same
instant. There are more of these callings showing that man should come
together and shoulder the doings of the work of God. Men held the arm of
Moses for actions and miracles to be performed. Men were shown, in Acts
6vs. 1-6 to championing the challenges facing Christianity. This is a
major source of the creations of the CLCI Men’s forum so as to multiply
the church workers within the armpit of the set-man’s vision.
The
forum has it’s main objective, an enabling avenue for men of CLCI to
interact among themselves as well as with the various other units in the
church in Diaspora. The pillar objective is to “raise the hand of the
set-man Apostle Richard Ige so as to achieve the aim, vision and
mission given to him by God Almighty”.
Over
the years, Men’s forum had organized various workshop and seminars on
(a) Marriage (b) Business Management (c) Christian attributes (d) Skill
improvement and benefit programme for the youths apart from annual
convention by the forum. Given this general goal of the forum, all the
branches of CLCI have chapters of the Men’s Forum executing their
programme to uplift and evangelize the work of God
